Hartsville man convicted in baby’s death dies in prison
Hartsville, S.C. (WPDE) —
Timothy Sanders died last week while serving a life sentence in prison for the murder of an 21-month-old child in Darlington County, according to officials with the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC).
Sanders shot and killed Madison Dolford at a home on Bell Avenue in Hartsville back in December 2013.
Prosecutors said the killing was cold, calculated and premeditated.
The Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office served a notice of intent to seek the death penalty against Sanders in December 2014 in the case, but withdrew it after he pleaded guilty to murder.
Redmond said last year the withdrawal of the death penalty notice was also, in part, due to Sanders being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
