Garden City man charged with murder of man in Murrells Inlet homeless camp
Georgetown County, S.C. (WPDE) —
Georgetown County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested and charged a Garden City man in the robbery and death of a man and beating and robbery of another in a homeless camp near Murrells Inlet.
Deputies responded to a report of a deceased male in a homeless camp on Sunday, Nov. 4 near the county line in the Murrells Inlet community. They quickly determined the victim had been robbed and murdered. Deputies say another victim at the camp was also robbed and badly beaten.
Following their investigation, they were able to identify a suspect and obtain arrest warrants.
Markey Terrill Faulkner, 38, was taken into custody Friday in Myrtle Beach and taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center. He was charged with murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to GCSO.
