Former first children, Jenna and Barbara Bush, to speak at CCU women's conference

Two former first children will be coming to the Grand Strand in 2018 to speak at a women's leadership conference.

According to Coastal Carolina University, Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, daughters of former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush, will be speaking at the WIPL Conference on Feb. 6, 2018.

The Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for Coastal Carolina University (WIPL) Conference is a women's leadership event designed to educate, motivate, and challenge women.

According to the CCU website, the conference has featured more than 250 speakers since its inception in 2011.

Other speakers for the 2018 program include the following:

  • Cara Brookins, author of Rise: Hose a House Built a Family
  • Julia Landauer, two-time NASCAR champion and advocate for STEM education and women's empowerment
  • Joan Robinson-Berry, vice president and general manager of Boeing South Carolina
  • Sharon Suchoval, founder of Advice for My Daughter, a blog to inspire women and the people who raise them
  • Barbara Hickman Whye, vice president of human resources and chief diversity and inclusion officer at Intel Corp.

The conference will be held Feb. 5-6 at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.
