Donna Keller Lee, 70, was arraigned this week on 39 counts of ill treatment of animals in connection with 133 dogs that were removed from her property in the Effingham community back in November, according to officials with the Twelfth Circuit Solicitor's Office.

Officials said 37 of the charges are felonies and the other two are misdemeanors.

Lee was indicted last week.

Florence County Environmental Services Director Herbie Christmas told us back in December the animals had all sorts of health problems and one had to be euthanized.

Charleston-based group, Valiant Animal Rescue and Relief took the 130 animals into custody.

No word on their conditions or if they've been adopted out.

Officials said Lee has been released from the Florence County Detention Center on a $15,000 personal recognizance bond.
