FLORENCE, S.C. (WPDE) - Donna Keller Lee, 71, who is charged with 39 counts of ill treatment of animals, was arrested Thursday for failure to appear in court , according Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.
Clements said Lee was on the trial list and was a no show.
Lee was charged back in June of 2018 with 39 counts of ill treatment of animals in connection with 133 dogs that were removed from her property in the Effingham community back in November of 2017, according to officials with the Twelfth Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Officials said 37 of the charges are felonies and the other two are misdemeanors.
Florence County Environmental Services Director Herbie Christmas told us back in December of 2017 the animals had all sorts of health problems and one had to be euthanized.
Charleston-based group, Valiant Animal Rescue and Relief took the 130 animals into custody.
Lee had been out of jail on $15,000 personal recognizance bond since her arrest.
