Florence man sentenced to 25 years in prison on drug charges

Fashun Burgess (FCDC)

Fashun Burgess, 36, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after a jury convicted him Wednesday to trafficking heroin and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, according to 12th Circuit Court Solicitor Ed Clements.

Online court records show he was arrested last August in Florence County.

Clements said Burgess was arrested at that time for selling heroin out of a motel in Florence County.

"We're pleased at the conviction. We need to do all we can to get people off the street dealing illegal drugs. Hopefully, when they get sentences like 25 years, it'll make people wake up and stop doing what they're doing," said Clements.

Clements said Burgess' sentence is set to be without parole.
