A jury acquitted Victor Bernard Johnson, Jr., 25, of murder this week in the 2015 shooting death of Daniel Levern Waiters, 26, according to Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.

Clements said jurors found that Waiters acted in self defense.

Police said Johnson shot Waiters in August of 2015 on Gladstone Street in Florence following an argument.

The three day trial wrapped up Wednesday afternoon with a not guilty verdict.
