Florence County man sentenced to 30 years in prison on multiple drug charges

A Florence County man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on multiple drug charges, according to a news release.

South Carolina Circuit Court Judge William Seales sentenced Johnny Nicholas Gregg, Jr., 27, following a trial this week on drug trafficking charges, according to Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.

Gregg was found guilty of: Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I,II or III Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base, Trafficking in Heroin, Possession of a Schedule IV Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute in Proximity to a School and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.

He was charged after an investigation and subsequent search warrant conducted by the Florence Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit in the 800 block of Commander Street in January 2017.

During the search, officers seized 378 Xanax pills, approximately 6.6 grams of Cocaine, 11 MDMA pills, approximately 5.5 grams of suspected Cocaine base (Crack), approximately 33 grams of heroin/fentanyl, 2 pistols, 1 rifle, 1 shotgun and other valuables, including a Citadel ring later returned to its owner in Sumter.

Officials say Gregg is expected to serve about 85 percent of his prison sentence.
