Fire destroys Marion County business, official confirms

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A fire destroyed a business Monday afternoon at Everette and Lumber Streets in the Nichols community of Marion County, according to Nichols Fire Chief Jimmy Collins.

Collins said the building at one time was a home that was turned into a business.

He added when they got on the scene heavy smoke was coming from the building and another building behind it.

Collins said they're not sure what caused the fire.

Many people in the community said they remember a lot of happy times at the business and it's a place where you could go and listen to some good music.

He said Mullins Fire Dept. helped to get the fire contained and under control.
