FCSO: Man strangled, beat domestic victim with baseball bat
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) —
The Florence County Sheriff's Office has arrested a local they say strangled and beat his victim with a baseball bat.
The incident began Dec. 1, the FCSO says, when Joshua Thomas Rothwell, 49, had a verbal and physical altercation with the victim. The victim tried to leave, but Rothwell struck the victim in the face with a baseball bat several times, then caused the victim to black out by strangulation, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say Rothwell disabled the victim's home to prevent calls for help, and refused the victim to leave or seek medical attention for several days.
Once the victim was able to leave the residence, law enforcement was contact.
Rothwell is charged with kidnapping and domestic violence-high and aggravated. Bond was denied.
