FBI alerted to woman’s body found in Robeson County
Robeson County, N.C. (WPDE) —
The FBI has been notified this week about the death of 62-year-old Rita Maynor, whose body was found last week in an abandoned home off of Pine Street in the city limits of Pembroke, according to Sgt. Tim Locklear with Pembroke Police.
Maynor had been reported missing the day before her body was discovered.
Locklear said they made the FBI aware of Maynor’s death to see if it was connected to the bodies of three women found dead in East Lumberton between April and June of last year.
He added at this time, there doesn’t appear to be a connection, but the investigation is ongoing.
Medical and dental records were used to help identify Maynor’s body.
At this time, police still don't know how she died.
They're hoping toxicology results will shed more light into her cause of death.
Officers told us last week they didn’t suspect any foul play in Maynor's death.
We'll bring you have more information as soon as it's made available to us.
