Extra deputies are at West Florence High School Friday morning following a threat against the school on social media.

Some parents alerted ABC 15 News to the situation by sharing a text message they received from school administrators.

District administrators released the following statement Friday morning on the matter:

A threat has been made on SnapChat about West Florence. We are aware of this threat and are taking extra precautions to make sure our students are safe. We will have extra deputies with us during the school day and run on a modified code yellow. We are working diligently to get to the bottom of this and will keep you up to date with the situation.

In a later notification from the school, Matthew Dowdell told parents school would be dismissing at noon.

Stay with for updates.
