Extensive cleanup needed after semi catches fire on Hwy 19

A semi-truck caught fire early Tuesday morning, leaving behind a big mess.

Horry County Fire Rescue, the South Carolina Dept. of Transportation, South Carolina Dept. of Health and Environmental Control, along with State Highway Patrol, responded to help clean up an extensive mess left behind after an 18-wheeler caught fire in the 12200 block of West Highway 19 outside of Loris.

The call came in around 6:30, and HCFR says no injuries were reported.

As of 3 p.m., the roadway remained closed due to the cleanup.
