Deputies searched a home late Friday afternoon on Ira Road in the Red Springs community and found cocaine, marijuana, two firearms and drug paraphernalia, according to Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins.

Since Wilkins took office back in December he’s made a number of drug arrest.

Wilkins said during his campaign that he would be targeting dope dealers because he believed drugs fueled a lot of crime in Robeson County.

Two people were arrested in the Ira Road incident.

Wilkins released the following statement on the bust:

“On Friday, January 18, 2019, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Division Investigators and SWAT Team Operators executed a search warrant at 291 Ira Road, Red Springs, NC. During the execution of the search warrant a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, two firearms and drug paraphernalia were located and seized. One of the firearms seized was reported stolen.

Matthew Carter, 36 and George Anthony Locklear, 45, both of Ira Rd., Red Springs were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Maintaining a Drug Dwelling, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Additionally, Carter was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Matthew Carter was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center with a $200,000 secured bond. George Anthony Locklear was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center with a $151,000 secured bond.
