MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A Dillon County man has been arrested in connection to the theft of two ATMs, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office.
Eddie Scarborough, Jr., 51, was arrested following an investigation into two convenience store burglaries in Bennettsville, S.C. in January. Deputies say he is accused of cutting the power at the Pic N Pay convenience store on Jan. 14 before driving his vehicle through the front doors and stealing the ATM.
Deputies also say Scarborough is accused of a similar crime at another area convenience store two weeks later.
Investigators with MCSO say they were able to "collect video surveillance data, physical evidence from the crime scenes and other evidence that placed Scarborough at each crime scene during each burglary."
Scarborough was arrested March 12 in Dillon after two months of searching. He is currently being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center and awaits a bond hearing for two counts of burglary second degree and two counts of grand larceny (more than $2,000; less than $10,000), according to MCSO.
Deputies say Scarborough is also currently wanted by other counties for similar offenses. He will be extradited after bonding out in Marlboro County.
