Darlington teen caught after trying to skip out on court hearing

A teen who walked out of the lobby at the Darlington County Courthouse moments before his hearing is now back in police custody, according to Lt. Robbie Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office.

Kilgo said the boy was charged with a crime last week by and was set to go before a judge Tuesday morning for a truancy hearing.

The 16-year-old wasn't in the custody of the sheriff's office when he walked out, according to Kilgo.

He added the teen was out on bond and had been released to the custody of his parents.

Deputies searched in and around the courthouse on Main Street and Darlington City police also helped with the search.
