Deputies conducted a drug investigation early Tuesday morning at a home on Mullins Highway, according to Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace.

The Marion County Combined Drug Unit was serving a search warrant on a home on Old Nichols Highway in Nichols following and investigation and several complaints from residents, according to a release.

Agents say both cocaine and marijuana were seized during the search.

George Michael Turner, 36 of Nichols and Amber Lane, 19 of Dillon were arrested and charged with distribution of cocaine base, conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Brian Wallace released the following statement:

We are making strides in the war on illegal drugs in our community. Another step was taken when we successfully executed this search warrant and took illegal drugs and drug dealers off the street and out of our community. However, for every illegal drug and drug dealer we remove it seems two more appear. Therefore, our efforts must remain strong and vigilant to rid our county of this poison and the people who bring this poison into our county. My deputies are up to the task and with the help of concerned citizens we will clean up our streets.

Marion County Combined Drug Unit was assisted by Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources.
