LAURINBURG, N.C. (WPDE) — A Friday night shooting left one person dead near East Vance Street in Laurinburg.

Police said they responded to a shooting incident around 8:25 p.m.

They say the incident occurred in the 300 block of E. Vance Street.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive female lying in the front yard of a residence.

Scotland County EMS responded and pronounced the female deceased.

The female was later identified as 17-year-old Jasmine Smith of Laurinburg.
