Dillon couple gets married despite bumps in the road from Hurricane Florence
Patrice and Carl Grooms of Dillon didn't let Hurricane Florence rain on their parade - or their wedding day.
The couple has been planning their wedding since December of last year. The flooding in the wake of Hurricane Florence almost forced them to push back their long-awaited day.
Patrice Grooms is a nurse, so she's used to working through any weather conditions. She wasn't going to let a little water ruin her special day.
The wedding was originally supposed to be in Fairview, North Carolina. The roads in Robeson County and Lumberton surrounding the venue, including their wedding cake decorator and venue decorator's homes were all flooded and ruined. Luckily, the decorations and the Grooms' spirits were all spared.
Despite the storm, Patrice said, "It made us realize that beautiful things are created after the perfect storm."
