Community comes together to welcome home Florence officer shot in the line of duty
Neighbors of one Florence community are welcoming home their neighbor, Officer Travis Scott, with a donation and various gifts after he was shot in the line of duty Wednesday evening.
Around 3pm, the Highgate Plan community lined up to greet Officer Scott with warm smiles, hugs, cookies, balloons and more to show their appreciation and welcome him home from the hospital.
Scott was among several law enforcement officers hurt after a shooting in the Vintage Place community of Florence County Wednesday night.
Sgt. Terrence Carraway, of the Florence Police Department, was killed. Three other members of the city department, Scott, Officer Brian Hart, and Officer Scott Williamson, were shot.
Deputy Arie Davis, Investigator Sarah Miller, and Investigator Farrah Turner, all with the Florence County Sheriff's Department, were also shot.
