The City of Hartsville has made some recent strides with the waterpark expansion project, according to a press release.

The City has now given the waterpark a name and hired a manager.

The waterpark will be known as "Neptune Island" and will be a "tropical island adventure" for visitors of all ages.

Assigned to the task of managing the park is Eric Tucker, who brings 17 plus years of waterpark experience. Tucker began his career as a lifeguard and worked his way up to manage departments in multiple states and countries.

City Manager, Natalie Zeigler is excited about the progress they have made with the project. In a press release she said, "Giving a name to the project coupled with bringing Eric onto the team brings further life to our team's vision of the waterpark."

Neptune Island will be an expansion of the existing splashpad, and will include a 1,000 foot lazy river, a zero entry pool, a wave pool, a speed body slide, a pair of tubular water slides and three mat racing slides.

If you want to take advantage of the outdoor space as well as the water, the park will also offer cabana rentals, party huts and food trucks.

The City hopes these features will make Neptune Island a "celebrated destination for residents and visitors throughout the region."

Neptune Island will be located at 1109 Fourteenth St. and is set to open Summer 2018.
