Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand wins new van in nationwide contest

The new van rolls around field during a ceremony Wednesday night (WPDE).

They see it rollin', and they lovin'.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand was one of 10 chapters across the nation to win a new van, thanks to Bridgestone's "Driving Great Futures" campaign.

Customers of Bridgestone and Firestone raised the money to purchase the new Toyota Sienna, which can fit seven passengers.

"A seven passenger van to help with the teens for local transport is absolutely amazing," CEO Dione Buonto gushed. "It's like a dream come true."

The chapter currently only has a single, five-passenger minivan to transport kids.

It created a video with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans mascot, which helped put the chapter over the top.

"We let them rent a car [for the video]," Sparks Toyota employee Blair Mueller said, explaining that the dealership helped give the car a special wrap.

The keys to the new set of wheels were handed over during a surprise ceremony at field Wednesday night, where kids got a chance to meet Santa and sit on Myrtle Beach Police Department motorcycles.
