Atlantic Beach Bike Fest gets a new name
Atlantic Beach, S.C. (WPDE) — Memorial Day is about three months away, which means so is the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest.
But this year there will be some changes, including the name.
What was simply the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest is now going to be called the Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival.
The town of Atlantic Beach is known as "The Black Pearl," and the city manager says the new event name is an attempt to bring the festival back to its roots.
"We're looking to expand in terms of making Atlantic Beach a destination which is what it used to be," said Benjamin Quattlebaum.
More like the "early inception and bring back more activities and cultural exposure," he explained.
Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the town's incorporation and for this year's festival they plan to bring in more entertainment and events.
