Area organization holds 'funeral' for victims of domestic violence

October is domestic violence month, and some area organizations are taking measures to remember the victims, both known and unknown.

The Family Justice Center of Georgetown and Horry Counties held a mock funeral Thursday for the victims of domestic violence.

At the ceremony, many quoted scripture and sang hymns. For most, it was a sober moment, recognizing that "domestic violence kills."

"It is not just an argument, it is not something that's just between a couple. It is a killer," said Linda Collins, the Program Director for the Family Justice Center.

The center has locations in both Horry and Georgetown Counties to help domestic violence victims.
