'Faulty mechanical equipment' may have caused active shooter reports
A report for an active shooter situation at Topsail High School in North Carolina came in around 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to our sister station WWAY, near Wilmington.
About two hours after the initial call, investigators have found no evidence of shots fired at the school, according to Pender County Sheriff's Office, on our sister station ABC 11 website.
Pender County Schools confirm there were noises coming from the top of the building.
Several nearby schools were on lockdown, but according to the schools Twitter, that lockdown has been lifted for some schools.
No injuries are reported at this time.
