DILLON, S.C. (WPDE) — Dillon police have charged a woman in connection with a child abuse incident involving a 5-month-old.
A warrant says Judy Cox, 58, is charged with child abuse in an incident that left 5-month-old badly hurt.
According to the warrant, “On February 12, 2019 in the City of Dillon, one Judy Wallace Cox did commit the Crime of Abuse/Parent, guardian, other by allowing another person to inflict great bodily harm upon a child in that she did inflicting great bodily injury or harm upon a child by shaking a five month old child ... such a manner that is cause severe damage to the brain area and severe trauma to the area.”
When contacted about the investigation earlier this week, Dillon Police Chief David Lane said they were investigating an incident but could not release any information.
The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has not responded to requests for information.
Tuesday, Circuit Judge Roger Henderson issued a gag order in the case.
