Man leaves jacket behind at crime scene, now faces burglary charges, deputies say
SUMTER, S.C. (WACH) - A criminal in Sumter County allegedly left his jacket behind during a robbery and is now behind bars.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Department, 30-year-old Jehrode Hodge has been charged in connection with two burglary incidents.
Deputies say on April 21, Hodge reportedly went inside an unlocked door at S&S Muffler Shop, then went inside a vehicle and stole speakers and amplifiers valued at approximately $2,700.
A blue jacket with Hodge's name on it was left behind and later recovered as evidence from the vehicle.
A second incident occurred May 7 at a location on the 620 block of East Brewington Road, where Hodge reportedly used an air conditioner to break through a window. Once inside, he reportedly stole a 32-inch Sony television valued at about $200.
Investigators were able to recover Hodge's fingerprints from the location, prompting warrants to be issued.
He was arrested Friday and charged with larceny and burglary second degree, according to deputies.
