Golf tournament helps Myrtle Beach athletes with hydration station
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) —
Thousands of dollars are now pouring back into the Myrtle Beach community tonight.
It was raised over the summer at the 2017 Doug Shaw Memorial Golf Tournament.
Some of that money went to the Myrtle Beach High School cheerleaders and to help provide breakfast and lunches for student athletes.
Because of the donations - tonight they Myrtle Beach Recreation Department has new a waterboy hydration station.
"Every child in the program is going to benefit from this system," said Kirk Gallion, youth sport supervisor for the City of Myrtle Beach. "This particular unit will hopefully be the first of many we get but it'll touch everybody and that was important to us."
The next Doug Shaw Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for next June at the Pine Lakes International Country Club.
