Stacie Davis of Marion has written and produced a Christmas movie that stars local and Hollywood actors.
Davis' movie is called Christmas In Carolina.
She was inspired to write a holiday movie after talking with her mother.
“I was watching a Christmas movie with my mom. And I told her, 'Do you know what I think I can write me a Christmas movie. And she said, you should.' And I did three months later, Christmas In Carolina was created. And it’s been an amazing journey," said Davis.
Kellie S. Williams and Darius McCrary from the 1990's hit sitcom, Family Matters, star in the movie.
“To have Kellie S. Williams and Darius McCrary., from Family Matters, the hit television show from the 90s. You know to be a part of your film. Your first film is an amazing opportunity.”
Davis is a Claflin University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
She began her career in television news, interning at ABC15, before transitioning into film.
She "produced an award winning sports documentary in 2017."
Davis said so many people helped the movie, including her parents, pastor, and community members.
"I was not alone with this. In this process, it took a team. It truly takes a team. I’m only one person. So I could not do all of the jobs. Even though you’re wearing many hats, to make sure that production is running the way that it needs to. And budget is where it needs to be. You have catering. You have to have people to help you. And it’s OK to ask for help. And it was so amazing to have community support. I mean, Marion County were small, but they really supported me.”
Davis' pastor Bishop Michael Blue of the Door of Hope Christian Church in Marion served as the movie's executive producer, along with Ervin Williams and Christine Davis.
Blue said it's important to help Davis and others discover and grow their talents.
“As she has discovered these particular gifts, my responsibility is to partner. And our ministry's responsibility is to partner. Not only with her, but any of our young men. Or older men, women. As they discover God‘s calling. God’s gift. God’s abilities in their lives. And we do all that we can do partner. To see that come to full fruition," said Blue.
The movie also stars Joslyn Y. Hall, David L. Rowell, Jessi Nicolet, Terrence Shingler and Tashawnie Hunter.
Christmas in Carolina will be released Sunday, Nov. 1 on Roku.
