As a cold front approaches from the west, showers and storms will increase in coverage and head toward the coast. Showers & storms will be numerous tonight and Friday with 1" - 2" of rain expected in many spots.
If you get caught beneath a heavy downpour, you could get more than that. Saturday has the potential to be wet as well with spots picking up an additional 1" - 2" of rain.
Overall, 1" - 4" of rain is likely across the area over the next 2 - 3 days so some flooding is possible.
Normally this amount of rain wouldn't be a big deal, but it's falling on top of a saturated ground thanks to near record rainfall amounts over the past month.
This will delay the receding process on area rivers or even cause them to rise again.
Showers and storms are still expected Sunday, but they won't be as widespread.
We return to a more typical summertime pattern early next week with much more sun and far fewer storms.
