Patchy light wintry precipitation New Year's Eve night.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for areas along and east of I-95. Some spotty light snow, sleet and/or freezing rain is possible overnight, especially the farther south and toward the coast you go. Like earlier this week, don't expect much but even a very light glaze on bridges and overpasses can cause major issues.
If you're planning to be out, be overly cautious and assume any roads or bridges that look wet could be icy. Precipitation or not, it will be bitterly cold with wind chills by midnight between 15º-20º.
Let me say this again. Even spotty light precipitation has the potential to cause travel problems. Additionally, with it being New Year's Eve, we all know there will be irresponsible people who drink and drive tonight.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND WATCH OUT FOR THE OTHER GUY!
By the way, I will have an update New Year's Day morning on the potential for a little snow mainly near the coast Wednesday.
