Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Hurricane Katrina inspired Brooke Laizer’s Atmospheric Science career by 5th grade!
The Mississippi State University and Shackouls Honors College Alumna earned her Bachelor of Geoscience Degree in May of 2017. An Operational Meteorology major, communication minor, she is currently working toward acquiring a renowned American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal.
During Undergrad, Brooke interned in New Orleans before interning in Washington, D.C.
Locally, Brooke studied under Raycom Media Company’s WVUE Fox 8’s “Your Weather Authority” as well as Sinclair Broadcasting Group’s WJLA Abc 7’s “StormWatch7,” shadowing forecasting for Good Morning Washington.
Brooke has also studied under ABC News’ Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, too, shadowing forecasting for Good Morning America.
Off of campus, Brooke thoroughly enjoyed her Great Plains Storm Chasing Course, where she tracked storms across Midwestern states. Brooke also thoroughly enjoyed her San Salvador Island, Bahamas Storm Survey Course, where she assessed damage totals to rebuild this Hurricane Joaquin affected community.
Brooke immediately began her profession on Raycom Media Company’s WFXG Fox54’s “First Alert Weather “Team, forecasting for Augusta, Georgia’s Central Savannah River Area.
She feels Working For You on Sinclair’s WPDE Abc15’s “First Warning Weather” Team has been an answered prayer. Forecasting for Good Morning Carolinas alongside someone so respected as Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski simply couldn’t be better!
When off of work, Brooke loves beaching, boating, traveling, and rooting on both New Orleans Saints Football and New Orleans Pelicans Basketball as well as Mississippi State University Athletics. Who Dat, Flock Up, and Hail State!
