Meteorologist Brittany Van Voorhees is no stranger to the heat and humidity.
She was born in Atlanta, Ga., nine days after the 1993 Storm of the Century. Fascinated with thunderstorms as a child, she knew she wanted to become a meteorologist after touring a weather set as an elementary school student.
She moved to Central Florida when she was 14-years-old. As a high school student, she studied TV Production and won the TV Production Excellence Award as a senior. Then, she took her talents to the University of Florida in Gainesville, and began work as a forecaster for WUFT in August of 2014. In December 2014, she graduated with B.S. in Telecommunication and a certificate in Climatology and Meteorology. She decided to stick around after graduation and work as a Forecaster for WRUF-TV. Eager to learn more about the weather, she decided to pursue a Master’s of Geosciences in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She plans to graduate in August 2017.
Despite coming to South Carolina from Florida, Brittany has never lived by the beach! She is extremely excited to be here and eager to enjoy everything the East Coast has to offer.
