For the second time in the best of three Super Regional series, the Gamecocks and Tar Heels were postponed due to inclement weather. With a tornado watch for the Chapel Hill area and rain forecasted through much of the evening, NCAA officials decided at 4pm on Monday to postpone the South Carolina/North Carolina matchup scheduled for 7pm.
Game three is now scheduled for Tuesday at noon on ESPN2 at Boshamer Stadium. The winner of the USC/UNC matchup will head to Omaha and the College World Series. Rain washed out Friday's scheduled game one. The Tar Heels captured game one on Saturday with a walk-off 6-5 win, but the Gamecocks answered back with a Jordan Montgomery complete game shutout in an 8-0 win on Sunday.
The Tar Heels are the #1 national seed, while South Carolina is seeking its fourth consecutive trip to Omaha and the College World Series. The winner of USC and UNC will face NC State in Omaha on Saturday.
