Rain postpones South Carolina and Liberty at NCAA Regional

The South Carolina Gamecocks raced to a 4-0 lead at the NCAA Columbia Regional on Sunday night, only to have the Liberty Flames cut that lead in half, and a thunderstorm force a postponement of the game until Monday at 1:05 p.m.
The Gamecocks got out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by LB Dantzler that scored Chase Vergason. South Carolina added three more runs in the third. Joey Pankake drove in Murrells Inlet native Tanner English, and Dantzler and Kyle Martin added RBI hits.
The game will resume in the bottom of the 5th inning with the Gamecocks leading 4-2. Should Liberty come back and win, the teams would play a second time Monday night for the regional championship and a trip to the Super Regionals against the winner of Monday's game between North Carolina and Florida Atlantic.
