Murrells Inlet, SC - Former St. James High stars Tanner English and Gunnar Heidt are back on the Grand Strand after being selected in the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays, respectively.
The two former Sharks are in contract negotations, each ready to begin their march toward major league baseball. Heidt could soon be heading to Florida and the Blue Jays practice facility. He's still nursing an injured hand.
English is ready to make his mark with the Twins, "I want to get back to playing some baseball. To be able to call it my job is one of the coolest things in the world."
Both players told WPDE NewsChannel 15 that they expect to sign professional baseball contracts within the next few days.
