North Carolina golfers dominating Carolinas Amateur Championship

North Carolina golfers hold down the top six spots on the leaderboard heading to the final round of the 97th Carolinas Amateur Championship at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 22-year old Brock Elder from Randleman, North Carolina, at 7-under par for the tournament, has a one shot lead after shooting a 2-under par 70 in the third round.

The defending champion is Logan Harrell, a member of the South Carolina Gamecocks golf team. The Huntersville, North Carolina native is 1-over par and tied for 19th heading to Sunday.

The top golfer from the Pee Dee and Grand Strand is McCuen Elmore from Cheraw. Elmore stands at even par through 54 holes and tied for 16th. Mitchell Gray from Florence is 1-over par for the tourney. West Florence High graduate Stephen Behr who has signed with Clemson is now 3-over par after shooting a 76 on Saturday.
