      Pelicans lose but still celebrate

The Pelicans celebrated their first half division championship on Saturday night.

The Frederick Keys beat the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 1-0 in ten innings on Saturday night at Pelicans Ballpark.

Pedro Perez hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jason Esposito for the only run of the game.

Keys relief pitcher Matt Price picked up his second save of the season by striking out the side in the bottom of the tenth. Price is a former South Carolina Gamecocks closer. He has more saves than any player in SEC history.

Despite the loss, the Pelicans celebrated outside their locker room. Earlier in the week, Myrtle Beach clinched the Southern Division first half championship, earning them a spot in the Carolina League playoffs. Myrtle Beach has the best record in the league with a 40-20 mark.
