The Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks 3-2 on Friday night. The Birds rallied for two runs in the eighth inning with RBI hits from Mike Olt and Jared Prince to win the battle of Carolina League division leaders.

The Pelicans have won three straight games. They now lead the Southern Divsion of the Carolina League by three full games over the Salem Red Sox with a record of 28-19. Game two of the three game series with Wilmington is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.

A film crew representing HBO was in the stands on Friday night for preliminary shooting of the comedy series "East Bound and Down" starring Danny McBride as Kenny Powers, a former Major League pitcher who has had an up and down career from the Majors to the Minor Leagues. None of the actors were at the ballpark and the Pelicans have not been told when HBO will return. The setting of the third and final season takes place in Myrtle Beach with Powers trying to work his way back to the big leagues.
