Everett Golson no longer at Notre Dame

Notre Dame has confirmed that Everett Golson is no longer enrolled at the school.

Former Myrtle Beach High quarterback Everettt Golson is no longer enrolled at Notre Dame, school officials told WNDU-TV on Saturday night.

The Chicago Tribune has reported that Golson is no longer enrolled at the university due to a resident life violation. Tribune sources say Golson's departure is for an academic violation.

"Everett is not enrolled at the university. Federal law and our own polices preclude us from discussing specifics," spokesman Dennis Brown said in an email to ESPN.

Golson led Notre Dame to the BCS National Championship game, where they lost to Alabama to end a 12-1 season.

According to the Tribune, a school spokesman could not comment on when Golson is eligible to apply for re-admission or the timing of any possible readmittance. But the belief among the Irish is that Golson will not be available to play in 2013, with senior and former starter Tommy Rees the likeliest candidate to take the reins.

Golson passed for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. He also rushed for 298 yards and six TD's.
