Conway's Junior Hemingway made two TD catches to gain MVP honors as Michigan beat Virginia Tech 23-20 in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Hemingway scored with under a minute to go in the first half grabbing a jump ball and taking it 45 yards for a score. With 9:44 to go in the 3rd, Hemingway's second TD was a great grab in the back of the end zone - the senior was able to get one foot inbounds. Junior finished the game with 2 catches for 63 yards and both Michigan TD's. The Wolverines won it on a Brendan Gibbons 37 yard field goal in overtime.
Hemingway had 32 catches for 636 yards and 2 TD's in the regular season, matching his TD total in his final collegiate game. For his career, Junior finishes with 38 catches for 1638 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Maize and Blue. Hemingway was a WPDE All-Zone selection out of Conway High in 2005. In 2006, Hemingway reached the Zoneman podium finishing third behind Carvers Bay running back Malcolm Elder and former Gamecock and current Atlanta Falcon Cliff Matthews.
