CCU football hires defensive line coach, gets three Hofstra transfers

DL Johnny Hartsfield will transfer to CCU from Hofstra

D avid Bennett has filled one of his vacancies on his coaching staff. The Chanticleers have a new defensive line coach. Kevin Mapp is the new CCU defensive line coach. Mapp was coaching the defensive line at Hofstra. Mapp is a 2005 graduate of James Madison University - He was a starter in 2002 on the offensive line for the Dukes, but went to coaching after a career ending neck injury. Hofstra shut down their football program earlier this month.

C oach Mapp isn't the only Hofstra import to the program. Defensive lineman Johnny Hartsfield told WPDE sports tonight that he's enrolling at Coastal Carolina in january. Hartsfield is a redshirt freshman who has three years of eligiblity remaining. He played in 10 games for Hofstra recording 15 tackles and a sack. Hartsfield told us that two of his teammates will transfer to CCU in the summer - linebacker Christopher Thomas and Dontavius Johnson. All three players will be eligible immediately and have three years to play with the Chanticleers.
