Bennett to coach one more game in Horry County

David Bennett will be on the sidelines in Horry County for one more game when he leads the South All-Stars in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl. Kickoff is set for 1pm at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Scouts from six NFL teams were on hand to watch some of the best players from FCS football including the Green Bay Packers.

Bennett was fired last Friday after nine seasons at Coastal Carolina. Seven of Bennett's nine assistants will be dismissed at the end of February. Many of them are getting the opportunity to coach alongside Bennett one last time this Saturday. Bennett is still coming to terms with the dismissal.

"We planned on coaching at Coastal for as long as we were coaching," Bennett said. "(I'm 50) coach there until we were 65, that was the plan that little ole' David Bennett had. Sometimes God's plan is different than our plan."

Three Chanticleers will play one more game under David Bennett. Offensive lineman Tim Franklin and Bryan Brooks will play for the South along with tight end Jamie Childers.
