NFL Week 2: Players with ties to Pee Dee & Grand Strand
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Jaron Brown caught two passes for 78 yards and one touchdown in a 40-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brown was an ABC 15 All-Zone selection who played high school football at Cheraw. In the same game, Robert Ayers out of Marlboro County High had two tackles for Tampa Bay.
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons made seven tackles in a 24-16 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Timmons, the 2003 ABC 15 Zoneman winner, played high school football at Wilson.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Justin Durant had two tackles and one pass defended in a 27-23 win over the Washington Redskins. Durant was an All-Zoner who played at Wilson High. In the same game, Josh Norman out of Coastal Carolina made five tackles, and defended three passes for Washington.
Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert, a former Coastal Carolina standout, had nine carries for 25 yards in a 46-27 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Former Carvers Bay High standout Clayton Geathers had five tackles for the Indianapolis Colts in a 34-20 loss against the Denver Broncos.
Hartsville native Tony McDaniel had one tackle, and one pass defended for the Seattle Seahawks in a 9-3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
