Wilson High School football coach resigns after one season

Wilson High School head football coach Thomas Balkcom has resigned, according to a news release from Florence School District One.

The release said Balkcom, who has completed one season with the Wilson football team, submitted his resignation late Monday evening.

Balkcom finished the 2016-17 season at Wilson with an overall record of 3 wins and 8 losses.

School officials have accepted Balkcom’s resignation and have indicated that they will begin the process of searching for a replacement head coach at Wilson High School immediately.

Prior to serving at Wilson, he was assistant head coach at Clarke Central High School in Athens, Georgia.
