Gamecocks men win first NCAA Tournament game in 44 years

The South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Marquette Golden Eagles 93-73 in a first round NCAA Tournament game at the East Region in Greenville, SC on Friday night.

Sindarius Thornwell scored 29 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Gamecocks.

P.J. Dozier added 21 points for the Gamecocks, who won their first NCAA Tournament game since 1973.

South Carolina (23-10) will face Duke at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sunday in the second round.
