Gamecocks beat Vandy for first SEC hoops win this season

Chris Silva scored a career high 27 points to lead the South Carolina Gamecocks to a 71-60 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.

Silva hit 9-of-15 of his shots from the field and hauled down eight rebounds.

Wesley Myers added 17 for USC.

Freshman Jason Cudd scored three points with three rebounds, one assist, and one blocked shot off the bench for the Gamecocks.

The 7'1" Cudd is a former WPDE All-Hoop Zone selection out of Socastee High.

South Carolina (10-5, 1-2) will play at Alabama on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.
