The Clemson Tigers football team is coming off their first national championship season since 1981. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney shrugged off talk about his 2016 team, "Everybody wants to keep talking about last year's team and what we don't have. But what I'm excited about is what we do have."

Clemson must replace star quarterback Deshaun Watson and top rusher Wayne Gallman.

The Tigers will have to replace 78 percent of their offensive production from one year ago.

Sweeney said he feels sure by mid-season that fans will become familiar with Clemson's new playmakers. He quickly added that the Tigers' strength will be in the trenches, led by defensive lineman Christian Wilkins.

Wide receiver Hunter Renfrow out of Socastee High returns for his junior season. He made the game-winning catch in Clemson's 35-31 win in the national championship game.

Clemson will open the 2017 season on September 2 against Kent State at Death Valley with a noon kickoff.

Clemson is ranked 5th in the AP Pre-season Poll.
