Chandler Herndon was both giddy and nervous all day on Friday in preparation for his one big moment on the football field at McAlpine Stadium.

The Marlboro County senior scored a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage to help the Bulldogs to a 19-6 win over the Mullins Auctioneers at the Dennis Miller Jamboree of Champions in Bennettsville.

Herndon, who has cerebral palsy, scored on a play called Seattle Hot.

Herndon lined up at running back. He took a handoff, and with the use of a handicap walker, swept to his left. The Bulldogs blocked for him, and with help from the opposing Mullins team, Herndon scored a touchdown and was mobbed by his teammates.

It was a lifelong dream for Herndon, who is also an honor student and the school's senior class president.
