Whitney Young wins Beach Ball Classic

Whitney Young won the 2012 Beach Ball Classic Championship.

The Whitney Young Dolphins, from Chicago, Illinois, won the 2012 Beach Ball Classic on Monday night, with a wire-to-wire 58-37 win over Bishop O'Connell from Arlington, Virginia, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Whitney Young scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back. Paul White led the Dolphins with 14 points. Jahlil Okafor, Miles Reynolds and L.J. Peak also scored in double-figures.

The Dolphins defense held the Knights to just 27.7 percent from the field. Whitney Young led 18-13 at halftime. In the second half, the Chicago school stepped on the gas, outscoring Bishop O'Connell 40-24.

Bishop O'Connell was led by Junior Etou with 15 points. It was Bishop O'Connell's (11-1) first loss of the season. Whitney Young is now 10-1 this year.
